Kushana, the 25 yr old 4th Imperial Princess of the Torumekian (Tolmekian, Tormekian, Tolumekian) empire, is the last in line to the throne, after her older brothers. She's the last one with the royal blood of the previous emperor, and one of her aims in life is to avenge her mother, who's been tortured by the current emperor and her brothers. Kushana is the villain of the movie, the commander of the finest army in Torumekia (Who she personally trained ^_^) . Her second in command is Kurotawa, a "common" man who has no particular loyalty to the princess, and will take any opportunity to grasp her position. However, he knows that as long as his brilliant superior's alive, he won't have the position.

If you know anything about Kushana, you absolutely MUST know that she's missing both her legs and her left arm. As she reveals in the movie, an Ohmu attacked her as a child and she had to get her limbs amputated.

Kushana's often portrayed as the cunning and evil leader, but she's actually quite benevolent (although she may definitely not seem so at times). She worries for Naushika's safety, but she'll kill/knock out anyone to get what she wants. For example, near the end of the movie, she yells at one of her soldiers, and then knocks him out with a powerful blow from her mechanical left arm. Yet, with all this malevolence, I still wouldn't call her a bad person. She's just scared. If one saves her life, such as when Naushika saved her from her burning aircraft, Kushana'll instantly try to take control once more, such as pulling her little pistol on her saviors. Kushana has a rough and tumble personality, which she uses to try to hide her greatest fear- the Ohmu.

Seeming like a fearless woman, she's actually very afraid. In the scene with the pistol, when she shoots and Ohmu rise from the lake, it shows a small scene where she's trembling and crouching very low in the glider. Otherwise, I think she's brave, going up and facing her fear.

How it Started

I actually don't know. Surfing around the net one day, looking up stuff on Laputa, when i came across a Nausicaa page. It looked cool, and I wanted to see it. I went to the profiles page, and it had something on Kushana and a picture. After this, I went through phases- I want to see Naushika, I don't want to see it, I think I want to see it, I really don't want to see it.......finally to I HAVE TO SEE IT OR I'LL DIE. So I saw it and i loved it. The End.
